We read every message and reply within two business days, usually the same day. Tell us your camera model, your iPhone model and what you saw on the screen, and attach the log from the app if you can (Menu, Diagnostics, Share log).
Connecting your Canon
What do I need?
A Canon camera that speaks PTP over USB (we build and test on the EOS R3), an iPhone with USB-C running iOS 16.4 or newer, and a USB-C cable rated for data. A charge-only cable powers the camera and nothing else, so if nothing happens, try another cable first. There is nothing to install on the camera, and no Wi-Fi, laptop or Canon app involved. The connection is wired only.
How do I set up the camera?
- Turn Wi-Fi and Bluetooth off on the camera. The R3 will not talk over USB while Wi-Fi is on.
- Set the USB connection app to Photo Import / Remote Control, not the Camera Connect or EOS Utility modes.
- Shoot JPEG or HEIF, on its own or alongside RAW. The app shows the JPEG or HEIF. If you shoot RAW only, turn on Keep RAW in the app's menu, and expect those shots to appear without thumbnails because iOS cannot decode CR3.
- Set auto power off to a long value, or disable it. When the camera sleeps, the USB session drops.
What happens when I plug in?
The iPhone may ask you to allow the accessory, and on first use it asks to let StreetKit access the camera's contents. Accept both. The footer in the app goes from Waiting for camera to Connecting to Getting ready, and then shows a green dot. From then on every shot you take lands on the phone, newest first. Plug in before or after opening the app, the order does not matter.
Can I import the shots already on my card?
Not yet. StreetKit only picks up shots taken while it is connected and ready. Everything already on the card stays there, and shots taken in the few seconds before the green dot are not caught either.
Shots not showing up
The footer says Waiting for camera
Check the cable is a data cable and seated at both ends, the camera is awake, and Wi-Fi is off on the camera. If the Photos app or Files is browsing the camera at the same time, the session can fail to open. Close them, unplug, and plug in again. If you refused the accessory or the camera access prompt, the footer says Camera access denied. Unplug, plug in again, and allow it this time. If no prompt comes back, email us.
It has been Getting ready for a while
Most of that time is iOS reading the card. A near-empty card is fastest. Check the USB connection app setting on the camera and that Wi-Fi and Bluetooth are off. Stop and start the tether from the camera sheet (tap the footer) if it is still stuck.
I shoot RAW and nothing appears
RAW only frames are skipped unless Keep RAW is on in the app's menu. Shooting JPEG or HEIF alongside RAW is the smoothest setup. Movies are always skipped so a long clip never blocks the queue.
The shots are late
Downloads from the camera are one at a time, so a long burst takes a moment to drain. The counter in the footer shows how far behind the phone is. Unplugging mid-transfer stops the shot that was coming over, and the app says so.
The app says the last launch crashed connecting to the camera
StreetKit leaves the camera alone after a crash so you can still get to your shots. Tap the footer, or Retry camera in the camera sheet, and it opens the connection again more carefully. If it happens twice, email us the log (Menu, Diagnostics, Share log) and we will take a look.
Sharing a group
How do groups work?
One group per person you stop. New shots land in the top group, and New group starts the next one. Each group has its own QR code, so the right shots go to the right person.
How do I share a group?
Sign in once in the app (Sign in with Apple, or email), and the group's shots sync to the cloud. Open the group's QR code and hold the phone up. They scan it with their camera app and the page opens in their browser. There is nothing for them to install. Hold the code to copy the link if you would rather send it.
What do they see?
A page with their group. Previews appear within seconds and switch to full quality as the originals upload from your phone, so leave the app open on Wi-Fi for a few minutes after a walk. On an iPhone they tap Save to Photos, or Save all for the whole group. On a desktop they download the files or a zip. Your name, profile photo and handles sit under the group. Any number of people can scan the same code, and if someone scans a second code later, both groups show on the same page.
Can they leave their contact details?
Yes. The page asks for an email, with the option to add a name and a mobile number, so you can send the edits later. What they leave shows up next to the group in the app, and you get a notification when it does. They can also skip it.
Does a link expire?
No. A link works until you delete the group or your account. Their browser remembers the groups it has opened for two years.
Uploads are not finishing
Originals upload over Wi-Fi only unless you choose Wi-Fi and cellular in the app's Cloud section. The status line under the group tells you what is happening, for instance 3 of 5 in the cloud, or full size waits for Wi-Fi. Tap Sync now to push things along. If it says storage full, see StreetKit Pro below.
Saving to Photos
Do my shots go into my Photos library?
Yes, when Save to Photos is on in the app's menu (it is on by default). JPEG and HEIF shots go into an album called Street. StreetKit asks for Photos access the first time. With full access you get the album, with limited access the shots land in your library without an album, and if you decline they stay inside the app only. You can change this later in iPhone Settings, Privacy and Security, Photos. Kept RAW files stay inside the app and are reachable from the Files app.
Can the people I photograph save to Photos?
Yes, on an iPhone the page has a Save to Photos button that opens the system share sheet. Chrome and in-app browsers on some phones cannot do this, so the page asks them to open it in Safari. RAW originals save as their preview JPEG.
StreetKit Pro
What does Pro give me?
More cloud storage. Every account gets 2 GB to sync and share from, and StreetKit Pro raises that to 100 GB. Pro is a subscription through Apple, monthly or yearly, with a free trial at the start. Prices are shown in the app in your local currency.
How do I subscribe?
Menu, Cloud, Upgrade, while signed in. The purchase is handled by Apple and tied to your Apple Account.
How do I manage or cancel it?
In iPhone Settings, tap your name, then Subscriptions, then StreetKit Pro. Cancelling keeps Pro until the end of the period you paid for. We cannot cancel or refund a subscription for you, as Apple handles the billing, but you can ask Apple for a refund at reportaproblem.apple.com.
How do I restore a purchase on a new phone?
Sign in to the app with the same account, then open Menu, Cloud, Upgrade and tap Restore purchases on the Pro screen. You need to be signed in to the same Apple Account you bought with.
The app says storage is full
Uploads wait until there is room. Delete groups you no longer need from the app, or upgrade to Pro. Shots on your phone are not affected.
Your account and data
Do I need an account?
Not to shoot. Tethering and the library work without one. Signing in (Sign in with Apple, or email and password) is what turns on cloud sync and the share links.
How do I delete my account?
Menu, Cloud, Delete account, while signed in. It removes your account, every group and shot in the cloud, and the links people scanned, so guests lose access. The shots on your phone and in your Photos library stay. This cannot be undone. If you cannot get into the app, email support@streetkit.app from the address on the account and we will delete it for you.
Someone photographed me and I want my photo taken down
Email support@streetkit.app with the link to the photo or group, or ask the photographer. We will take it off the service within a reasonable time, and tell the photographer it was removed. The same address removes your name, email or number from a group.
Where is my data and who sees it?
Shots sync to our servers so the people you photograph can download them. Guests see the shots in their group and your public profile, never each other's contact details. The Privacy Policy has the full picture, and the Terms of Service cover the rest.
